This article explores the publication issues and editorial discrepancies
found in the divan (poetic collection) of Nodira, a poetess who
held an important place in classical Uzbek literature, particularly within
the Kokand literary environment. It examines the textual differences
among the editions of Nodira’s divan published in 1958, 1963, 1979, and
2001. The analysis highlights how each edition affects poetic imagery,
lyrical tone, and overall meaning. The study specifically points out that
seemingly minor changes — such as word substitutions, omitted couplets,
or even a single letter alteration — can weaken the artistic strength of
her ghazals, distort the meaning, and alter the essence of the text. While
acknowledging the historical and scholarly value of each edition, the
article emphasizes the importance of preserving the authenticity of the
original text and passing on the literary heritage in its true form to future
generations.
