Turkic poetry, as an integral component of Eastern literature,
developed on the basis of long-established traditions over many centuries.
In the artistic expression of themes, various modes of imagery were
created, whereby objects, actions, and states were transformed into
symbolic images. As a result, a figurative interpretation of life, transferred
into poetry through artistic thinking, emerged. These elements persisted
for centuries in the form of conventional symbols, images, and established
patterns, passing from one generation of creative production to another.
As noted by Alisher Navoi, one of the prominent representatives of Turkic
poetry, Mawlono Atoyi’s works are particularly noteworthy for their
distinctive articulation of these traditions.
This article is devoted to the study of artistic imagery in the poetry
of Mawlono Atoyi, one of the representatives of Turkic-Uzbek literature.
It examines the symbolic and metaphorical expressions employed in
the interpretation of prophetic (nubuvvat) motifs effectively depicted in
Atoyi’s lyric poetry. In addition, the article analyzes Atoyi’s artistic mastery,
his distinctive poetic style, and the original and refined similes created by
the poet from new critical perspectives.
