Haydar Khwarazmi’s creative legacy occupies an important
place in the history of Uzbek literature. The epics composed by the
author played a significant role in the development of Uzbek epic poetry.
This article examines the position and distinctive features of Haydar
Khwarazmi’s work Makhzan al-Asrar within the history of Uzbek epic
poetry. It addresses and critically evaluates controversial viewpoints
expressed in earlier studies devoted to Makhzan al-Asrar. In addition,
the article discusses the previously unedited and unanalyzed sections of praise (hamd) and eulogy (na‘t) that were not included in existing
editions of the work, and provides an analysis of the narratives
contained within the poem. Special emphasis is placed on the originality
of Haydar Khwarazmi’s epic and on the aspects that distinguish it from
Nizami’s poem.
