Second half of the XIXth century. At the beginning of the XXth
century, along with a number of political changes, a unique literary
environment developed in the Khiva Khanate.
King Muhammad Rahim Khan II Feruz, who always sought to
ensure the gathering of the country’s artists, left a mark in the history
of literature as the largest patron of poets. The creation of a new school
of creativity as a result of the efforts of Muhammad Rahim Khan II Feruz
led to the creation of many works. According to the instructions given by
Feruz to representatives of the Khorezm literary community, the tradition
of creating a devan became a tradition and was further developed.
In particular, the names of the creators who managed to create the
sofa were taken directly from the magazine “Majmuat ush-shuaro”, which
covers the life and work of representatives of the literary environment
of Khorezm. It is noteworthy that before the creation of the tazkira
“Majmuat ush-shuaro” there was no collection or tazkira containing
complete information about the life and work of representatives of the
literary environment of Khorezm. From this point of view, we can say that
information about the life and work of Otanazar Kamali is given a place
in this review, which indicates the special place of the poet in this literary
environment.
Considering the above, this article provides brief information about
the development of the literary environment of Khorezm during the reign
of Muhammad Rahim Khan II Feruz, his encouragement of science and
creativity among government affairs. It also briefly analyzes the unique
styles used by artists of this period, using their poetry as an example. In addition, based on sources, information about the life and creative work
of Otanazar Kamoli was restored and analyzed. Handwritten copies of the
poet’s book, the composition and content of the book, the volume of works
included in it were scientifically analyzed, and the poems in the book were
classified by genre.
