“Khamsa” of the genius Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi played an
important role in the development of the literature of the Near and Middle
Eastern peoples, became an inexhaustible source of topics and ideas,
and left a deep mark on the cultural life of many peoples. The themes of
“Khamsa” served to bring the works of many artists to the forefront of
world culture, to enrich the literature of peoples, and under the influence
of Nizami’s creativity, humanism education became a leading theme in
world literature.
As the followers of the “Khamsa” tradition themselves admit, it was
a difficult task to “overcome the barrier erected by Nizami”. For this reason,
it took many great talents to innovate and bring originality to the theme
and structure.
The influence of Nizam’s creativity is evident in the themes, plot,
typology of artistic heroes and characters, and other elements in the
masnavis created in the Middle Ages.
We have also come to the conclusion that in the works written
in response, along with the typological features of similar motifs, the
scope of the topic has expanded in different historical periods. Historical
personalities, literary heroes, religious-mythical characters belonging to
the circle of phenomenon Nizami’s creativity are removed, plots based
on the lives of new heroes and stories dedicated to the love adventures
of “new lovers” are written. Of course, Nizami’s humanist ideas are
preserved and continued, and the title of “master” earned by him in these
subjects is specially mentioned in the newly written works. Also, in terms
of style, important expressive features of medieval literature - the symbolic
system - take a more active form in newly created works.
In the article, it is learned that in the work “Rovzatul-anvar” by
Khaju Kirmani, many topics that have become stereotypes are expressed
in the mold of Sufism symbolism, focusing on Islamic spirituality in
particular.
